We are Nate and Carrie Holland, a sailing family embarking on an exciting voyage from New England to the Caribbean aboard our 2011 Beneteau Oceanis 50. We’re joined by our two adventurous children, ages 13 and 9, who are embracing life at sea and the wonders of this journey. We are seeking a capable, enthusiastic crew member to assist us as we navigate the next phase of our trip: rounding Cape Hatteras and continuing south to the Bahamas. This leg offers the thrill of ocean passages, picturesque anchorages, and plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy the journey. About the Boat Our Beneteau Oceanis 50 is a modern, well-equipped sailing yacht designed for both comfort and performance. Key features include: Three cabins providing privacy and a comfortable living space. A spacious salon and galley. Reliable navigation and safety systems to ensure smooth offshore sailing. Versatile sail plan and a robust 110hp Yanmar engine for adaptability in various conditions. This is a family-friendly vessel, and we strive to maintain a safe, cooperative, and relaxed atmosphere. Who We’re Looking For The ideal crew member will: Have experience in offshore or coastal sailing (watchkeeping and weather routing knowledge are a plus). Be comfortable and adaptable to life aboard with a family, including children. Be able to assist with sail handling, navigation, and daily tasks onboard. Bring a positive, team-oriented attitude and a spirit of adventure. Costs and Expenses We will cover all costs associated with the boat while you are onboard, including food and provisions. Any personal expenses incurred ashore, such as meals or activities, will be your responsibility. Timeline We are departing soon from the Chesapeake Bay area, awaiting a favorable weather window to round Cape Hatteras. From there, we’ll continue down the East Coast and make the crossing to the Bahamas. The journey is expected to take 2–3 weeks, depending on weather and planned stops. If you’re eager to experience offshore cruising, enhance your sailing skills, and join a family adventure, we’d love to hear from you. Contact Please reach out to us with a summary of your sailing experience, any relevant skills, and why this journey excites you. Fair winds, The Holland Family
