Netherlands-Shetlands-Norway trip July 2025 for open minded individuals from EU and beyond... This text to give you more information about the upcoming trip. It is not a first, we previously visited Fair Isle and the Shetlands on our way to and back from Faroer a few years back, and we did the Norwegian coast twice in the previous years. The concept is to have a nice sailing experience in a group of chill preferably unvaxxed people. It is a non-commerciai trip, so no fare cost, only a 200 euro contribution for the food and extra the harbor fees we have to pay when not anchored (not often). We will gather on Friday 27th of June for a welcome dinner party where you will meet the other crew for the first time in real life. The purpose is to decide who you will team up with for the trip and share accommodation with. Previous experiences have proven the solid concept of having three teams each having a male and a female member, and also the added value of having 6 different nationalities on board. Language will be preferably English although the Captain masters several other languages. Luggage will be limited to one flexible sports bag. Several laundry possibilities on the way. Storage room is limited as food takes a lot of space. Life is extremely expensive in Norway so to keep the cost low we will be self-sufficient. Saturday 28th we set sail to Roompotsluis where you will have the last opportunity to “abandon ship” if something does not feel right for you. Then we set sail to Fair Isle, a tiny exclusive spot between the Orkneys and the Shetlands. It will take about 5 days to get there (700nm). We will arrive around 3 July and have two overnights there giving us time to explore the island and enjoy the beach. 5th of July we will make the short 46nm transfer to Lerwick the capital of the Shetlands where we will stay till 8 July when we will transfer the 218nm to the Bergen Area arriving 9th. From there we will proceed to Haagesund and from there via stops on the islands Utsira and Hydra proceed to Korshavn our final destination (220nm coastal cruising over 5 days) to return the 513nm starting 19th to Roompotsluis. For those not having the luxury of a full month of holidays there might be an option to participate in half of the trip till or from Bergen but then we need a pair of interested ones so the crew of 6 stays complete during the whole trip. If the weather is positive the stay in Norway could be extended with a few days but the very hard return deadline will be 26th of July at the departure point. The boat is well equipped and has all navigational gizmos. No sailing experience is needed as you will gain it during your trip. We can write certificates afterwards for RYA purposes if needed. Apart from the unpredictable Northsea weather this is not a complex trip. We do need an open minded setting to be able to live in a fairly small space with virtually no privacy. For those who never sailed before this has to be clear. Due to previous negative experiences this trip is not suitable for vegans. Vegetarians we did welcome before and that went ok. Smoking will be never allowed inside the boat and we prefer non smokers. Alcohol and soft drugs are never allowed while sailing but parties at anchor we go loose…? In Norway there will be loads of fishing and crab catching to save on the food bill. As this started as a one boat trip, others got interested and it looks like maybe two other boats will be joining us. These boats will also welcome crew… If you are interested to join us please send me an email giving a small introduction about yourself, your education and job, why you want to join and if you have any sailing experience. Please include a picture. I will add you then to the whatsapp group so you can meet the other crewmembers and discuss details. My contact info can be obtained after a small message
