Looking to do an offshore passage, explore Tenerife and Cape Verde? I’m looking for 1-2 crew members who have offshore experience to sail from Tenerife to Cape Verde in November and enjoy either end of the trip. Ideal availability would be 4 weeks from early November through to start of December. SV Serendipity is a 2022 Lagoon 46 sailing catamaran outfitted for off shore and comfort on anchor. Just finished second half of my upgrades earlier this year. Designed to be fully off grid with a massive solar/lithium bank, water maker, Starlink, dish washer, washing machine, induction cooking among many more toys. On the sailing front, apart from usual main and self tacking jib, there’s a code 0 on an electric furler and an Oxley Bora spinnaker. Safety gear all setup for ocean crossings. I’ve now lived on my boat for 2 seasons in the Mediterranean sailing from North France (Atlantic), into the med to Greece and back out to the Canary Islands. When I’m on board - Serendipity doesn’t stop at marinas - the boat is made for life on anchor. I’m a solo traveller, and this boat my home. My dream is to do a slow lap of the globe over many years. My background is that I’m an eye surgeon from Australia and also run a healthtech startup. In terms of expenses - I don’t charge a daily rate, we just split the grocery bill and I cover boat related expenses. The boat is currently in the Canary Islands, and my plan is to sail from the Canary Islands in November to Cape Verde. It’s having some extra upgrades while in the Canary Islands which hopefully will be complete by November. Currently I’ve got myself and another crew member for the passage. Keen for one more person on board for the crossing, might consider 2 depending on applicants. It’s about a 800-900 nm passage, and I’m estimating 5-7 days for the crossing part itself. Plan is that I’m arriving back on the boat early November to start prepping the boat at the marina - provisioning, any maintenance issues to sort etc, probably do a little local touristy exploration, rent a car while waiting for a weather window. Once a suitable weather window turns up then head over to Cape Verde. Once arrive in Cape Verde - would be mostly just enjoy exploring the anchorages there until first week of December (when next crew arrives and I’ll be heading over to the Caribbean). Ideal candidate - has offshore experience, comfortable taking solo night watch - Experience sailing catamarans - Available Nov 7- December 5th (4 weeks) - Likes cooking - I’m Pescatarian (seafood only) and I love cooking, so others that love to cook and find food as important as me is great! - Prefers living on anchor to staying in a marina - Non smoker If you’re keen - send me a message and I look forward to chatting with you!
