6/6Coxen Hole, Honduras
Belize City, Belize
1.3.27 – 15.3.27 Bay Islands (Roatan) via Utila to Belize (Belize City) The starting point is the island of Roatan, part of the Bay Island group off Honduras, known for its Caribbean atmosphere and spectacular underwater world. Roatan – Coxen Hole is easy to reach internationally via the USA (Miami, Houston, Atlanta), Canada or Cancun/Mexico (Tropic Air). The reefs here form unique canyons and caves that provide shelter for countless marine creatures and are perfect for freediving and snorkeling. During this trip we will also visit the backpacker/diver island of Utila, where we clear out of Honduras and may stop at the idyllic offshore island of Water Cay. From there we sail approximately 100 nautical miles to Belize. After the open-water passage we once again reach Belize’s immense barrier reef. The contrast between the steep, deep reefs of the Bay Islands and the wide open atolls of Belize makes this section especially interesting. We explore different islands and anchorages along the reef and slowly make our way north towards Belize City. Anyone looking for a mix of varied sailing days, island hopping and a touch of bluewater sailing will find this trip especially rewarding. The trip ends in Belize City, where the international airport offers good connections to the USA, Canada and Cancun (Mexico – via Tropic Air or bus).
