Dear All, After a year of refitting our beautiful boat Frederick, a Westerly Conway 36 Ketch from 1975, and traveling with it from Flensburg to Lisbon, we are about to have a change in our journey - as my partner and our dog will be returning to Germany for work. However, I would like to continue the journey for a few more months and experience and enjoy life on the sailing boat a little longer before we pass the boat on to the next people for their adventures. One possible route would be to sail to Morocco and the Canary Islands to spend the winter there for a few weeks and then sail on to the Mediterranean. But I'm also open to other ideas and find that a bit of spontaneity is very beneficial when sailing. Overall, I'm still open to all possibilities at the moment. I can imagine both selling the boat and traveling for a while with people who are interested in long-distance sailing. Interested in a sailing adventure together? I envision a constant (core) crew - possibly with additional crew joining on and off - rather than a constant rotation. I don't want to take on the role of the sole host and responsible skipper who has to explain all the procedures etc. every two weeks. I am therefore looking for a person who is interested in traveling together over a longer period of time (for rough orientation: somewhere between 4 weeks and 3 months). Since this makes it more of a kind of temporary roommate, I think it makes sense for us to be around the same age (my rough idea: 30 +/- 10 years). The most important thing for me is that we get on well and want to have a good time together. I also hope that any fellow sailors will also feel responsible and show initiative when it comes to the usual boat matters. I don't know to what extent a financial contribution would be beneficial in this respect, but I would be happy to discuss ideas with you. Right now I am with the boat in Lisbon and realistically I think we could continue the trip starting in December.
