Panama Canal to Tamarindo — Pacific Surf & Sailing Adventure Join us aboard Blue Moon, our 58-foot sailing catamaran, for an unforgettable journey from the Panama Canal up the Pacific coast of Panama and Costa Rica, finishing around Tamarindo by March 15. This is not a fixed-tour itinerary. We’ll move with the weather, the swell, and the places we enjoy most. After transiting the Panama Canal, we’ll explore the Pacific side of Panama — remote islands, quiet anchorages, surf towns like Playa Venao and Santa Catalina, the wild coastline around Coiba, and the protected islands of the Gulf of Chiriquí. From there we cross into Costa Rica and slowly work our way north through Golfo Dulce, the Osa Peninsula, Pavones, Dominical, Playa Hermosa, the Nicoya Peninsula, and eventually Tamarindo and northern Guanacaste. Expect a mixture of: - Sailing and learning life aboard a large cruising catamaran - Surfing whenever the waves are good - Snorkeling, fishing and exploring remote islands - Beaches, jungle and wildlife - Small surf towns, restaurants and local culture - Yoga, workouts and healthy living aboard - Quiet anchorages mixed with occasional marinas and nights ashore - Plenty of flexibility to stay longer when we find somewhere special The idea is to travel slowly rather than rush from destination to destination. Some days we may sail 50 miles; other times we may stay anchored in the same beautiful place for a week. You can join for part of the journey or a longer section depending on your schedule. Early December: Panama Canal December–January: Pacific Panama January–March: Costa Rica By March 15: Tamarindo / Guanacaste If you love the ocean, surfing, adventure and the idea of actually participating in life aboard rather than simply being a passenger, this should be a pretty special trip.
