9.11.26 – 23.11.26 Belize: Barrier Reef & Atolls 23.11.26 – 7.12.26 Belize: Barrier Reef & Atolls 7.12.26 – 21.12.26 Belize: Barrier Reef & Atolls 21.12.26 – 4.1.27 Belize: Christmas Trip Barrier Reef & Atolls These trips take us deep into the island and reef world of Belize. The world’s second largest barrier reef stretches for hundreds of kilometers along the coast. Behind it lies calm water, protected from Atlantic swell and perfect for relaxed sailing between countless small islands. We anchor at remote cays, swim directly from the boat above coral gardens and explore reef passes where eagle rays, turtles and large schools of fish often appear. Many of the islands consist of little more than a few palm trees, white sand and perhaps a small hut. A special focus of these trips are the offshore atolls. Lighthouse Reef, Turneffe and Glover’s Reef lie far out in the open sea and feel surprisingly remote. Inside the lagoons the water glows in almost unreal shades of turquoise, while outside the reefs the Atlantic drops away into deep dark blue water. Among other places, we plan to visit Half Moon Cay – a small nature reserve with seabirds, palm beaches and crystal-clear water – as well as the famous Blue Hole. These trips are also well suited for sailors with less experience in open ocean conditions, as much of the route takes place inside the protected reef. Possible destinations include Tobacco Cay, Southwater Cay, Queen Cays, Hatchet Cay, Turneffe and Lighthouse Reef. The trip starts and ends in Belize City, which can be reached via Cozumel/Mexico, Canada or the USA (Miami, Atlanta, Houston).
