18.1.27 – 1.2.27 Bay Islands: island hopping Roatan & Guanaja 1.2.27 – 15.2.27 Bay Islands: island hopping Roatan & Guanaja 15.2.27 – 1.3.27 Bay Islands: island hopping Roatan & Guanaja We sail from bay to bay, anchor off small islands and spend plenty of time in the water. Distances between the islands are comfortable, leaving enough time to explore both above and below the surface. Roatan, Utila and Guanaja each have their own distinct atmosphere. Utila feels relaxed and uncomplicated, with backpackers, divers and small beach bars. Guanaja is more mountainous, greener and noticeably quieter. The underwater world of the Bay Islands is exceptional. The reefs are vibrant, diverse and often dramatically shaped. Many dive and snorkel spots are located directly beside the anchorage and can easily be reached by dinghy or straight from the boat. The islands also offer fantastic sailing conditions. Trade winds, short passages between islands and countless sheltered anchorages make the cruising ground varied and enjoyable. The people on the islands are friendly and helpful. Much of the atmosphere feels more relaxed and authentic than in the heavily developed tourist areas of the Caribbean. The trip starts and ends in Coxen Hole (Roatan), where the international airport offers good connections to the USA (Atlanta, Miami, Houston). International flights are easiest via the USA or Canada. Connections via Cancun/Mexico with Tropic Air are also possible.
